A unique fast food restaurant, which lovingly brought the idea from Belgrade to Lent!
Šiš snack bar, Usnjarska ulica 5, 2000 Maribor
Where does the name “ŠIŠ” come from?
Šiš is a sandwich in the Balkan style, consisting of an elongated bun and an elongated čevapcic with vegetables and special sauces, which perfectly round off the sandwich – a popular street food in Belgrade.
The snack bar is named after a popular dish from the time of Yugoslavia, and welcomes guests in a unique atmosphere. The furniture consists of recycled discarded items from factories.
It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Drava River in Maribor’s Lent, where it has been offering grilled food, hamburgers, tortillas, salads, hot dogs, fries, and of course Šiš for ten years. Dishes are ordered via a larger tablet.
Space & ambience
The carts that were converted into seats, so that they were once in the Peko footwear factory, were thus made from converted boilers. Also interesting are the orange chairs by the wall, which are from the waiting room of the health clinic in Ajdovščina. Above the table is the iconic radio that many homes once had. The space is illuminated by lights that are a legacy of the Emo enamelware factory from Celje – in short, all the pieces are unique, which really gives the snack bar its soul!
The ingredients they use are mostly supplied by Slovenian suppliers and also mostly grown in Slovenia. Freshly baked bread daily, always fresh vegetables and, of course, meat from a local butcher with more than 30 years of tradition.
