It is located in the Istrian village of Vanganel, which is about 15 minutes from Koper – an inn with a soul and a place where Istrian cuisine is at home.
An authentic and unique local food offering with the house specialty “Ombolo v testu” and an extremely pleasant atmosphere, which is especially enchanting at sunset.
Interweaving of the past and tradition with the needs and wishes of the modern guest. They try to prepare modern dishes, both typically Slovenian and Istrian as well as those from international cuisines, and there are also some pizzas available, and they also prepare a selection of menus for special occasions.
The offer combines both meat and fish dishes – after the cold meat tris, which consisted of beef carpaccio, chicken liver pâté and beef tartare, they treated themselves to outrageously good fugues with truffles and tagliat!
Despite the rather filling introduction, it would be a sin not to try the famous ombol in dough. Together with various side dishes, it forms the parade discipline of Oljka!
It is meat covered in dough (pork fish), which can be eaten by two or three people (one portion) and is available with various fillings.
We were served the most popular version with prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato, and there are a number of other fillings available. It should be pointed out that the portions are really huge and one can feed 2-3 people, especially if you treat yourself to something else. The ombolo cost 15 euros.
